Trust What Is Right

Forward

Post Written By Eugene Morgan

It’s all right to ask for someone’s opinion, but ultimately we have to make the final decision and live with it. We do what’s right even though it’s not the opinion of a group of people.  Do what’s right because our integrity depends on it. Do what’s right because our self-worth depends on it. We begin to lose faith in ourselves if we don’t value what’s important to us. Our value is what’s guide us to what we think is right in our minds that’s important. When others lose faith and trust in us, then we lose faith and trust in ourselves. So we got to be honest with ourselves so we can trust fulfilling our values.

No Joy Like Freedom

No Longer a Prisoner (For I am Free!)
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

We can’t know freedom unless we have experienced restraint and then was released from it. Some of us don’t realized how free we’re really are.

If we have internal restrictions, then we can’t express being and feeling free. Freedom requires responsibility. As long as we aren’t breaking any rules that are harmful and hurtful to others and us, then it’s all right to express our freedoms.

Joy is the result of our freedom.  An inner joy is an expression of our outer freedoms. We live to be free but responsible. There is no joy in restricting our thinking. A closed mind is not a joyous mind, but an open mind keeps the joy pouring through.

Have You Started Your List Yet?

To-do list book.
Post Written By Eugene Morgan

If we’re going to do something, we can write a to-do-list. A list makes things real not imagined. After we write a list, we can promise ourselves to at least do one or two things off the list.

Our goal isn’t to complete a list in one day, but to start it. Some of us may have a list of items that need more time while others may need a short time to complete.

It’s seems important to work on it daily to keep the momentum going.  Having multiple projects can be overwhelming and paralyzing to a point where procrastination can set in.

If we start slow but keep up a steadiness, we then can complete our projects. Sometimes we do have deadlines to meet but if we have an early start on our projects, then we have the opportunity to put in the time to complete them.

Doing the Hard Things First

Ta - Da List, May 18

Whenever we want to tackle a project, it’s better to do the hard part first. Even when the hard part of project takes longer to complete, because by the time we complete it, the rest will come easier.

One thing is true about starting the difficult part first is that we learn something about it.  That learning may help us complete the rest of the task.

We don’t even have to complete the difficult part of a project so long as we start and work on it for certain amount of time.

This gives us a psychological effect on how we complete the rest.  The rest of the project will seem doable then if we started with what we think is easier.

Plan a Change

Spare change (48/365)
Written by Eugene Morgan

It’s up to us to make a change.  We have the power within ourselves to make a change, if we want to.  If we want to improve our lives, we then have to decide to improve it.  After we decide to improve our situation, we then can write-up a plan.  After a plan is in place, we then can execute the plan until it’s completed.

No other person can make the change for us. In other words, relying on someone to make a change is useless; it won’t ever happen.  When we rely on someone, we are giving away our power. Ultimately, we know what we want in life so it’s better to ask ourselves, “What do I want for my life?” and we then can make a plan and execute it, because within us we have the power.

“If you want it you must obtain it by great labor,” T.S. Eliot.

The Answers Within

“I don’t need to know what your problem is for you to correct it.” Milton Erickson

Erickson is saying in the above quote, is that we have it in ourselves to correct our problems.  Sometimes, we just need someone to steer us in the right direction.  The answers are within each of us.  We just need to learn how to get access to them.  Sometimes, we don’t listen to our inner voice that’s telling us the answers.   Erickson is also saying that it’s our responsibility to correct our own problems. No one can really correct our problems for us.  The problem really is about changing our perspective on our reality.

Today Was Once Tomorrow

Life starts today
Written By Eugene Morgan

“People always have that tendency to put off working on a problem to tomorrow,” Milton Erickson.

Working on a problem isn’t always fun and games. When we put off working on a problem, it stays in front of us. It never leaves our sight. It hovers around the top of our heads like flies—waiting for us to do something about it.

When a problem is dealt with, it’s no longer in front us, it’s behind us; we have noticed it lessened our anxiety level; we have realized that we have made the problem bigger than it actually was; and we have felt the weight of the problem lifted from us. So whatever the problem was, we got through it, since we have experienced working through it before.

Erickson is implying, in the above quote, that the capacity in us can help us deal with the problem. Notice that Erickson says “working on a problem;” not fixing or solving a problem. He wants us to begin the process of working on a problem today; thus giving our full attention on the problem today.

If today was tomorrow and will be yesterday, then there is nothing we can do about tomorrow and/or yesterday, but we can about today!
