Happiness

Don’t let your happiness depend on something you may lose. — C. S. Lewis

In other words, it is not a good idea to be attached to something external to make us happy.  It is better to create that happiness inside us first and then share it with others. We’re responsible for our own happiness and no one can give us the happiness we want except us. If we find ourselves always disappointed about life, then it times for us to look at ourselves to make internal changes. No one is without loses. Loses are inevitable. Happiness is inevitable if we start from within. We have to remember that happiness is one of many emotions that we experience. There are time it is appropriate to express our happiness and there are times it is appropriate to express other emotions as well.

Cry, Forget, Learn and Move on

the cry

“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness.”— Steve Maraboli

To Cry, to forgive, to learn and to move on is a good sequence to start the process of healing. In the privacy of our home, it is okay to cry. Although it is difficult for some men to cry publicly, it is all right to cry privately. We can cry and still remain strong. After a good cry, it is now time to forgive. Forgiveness is another difficult things to do. Forgiveness is accepting the pain that the event has caused. Milton Erickson says that all our feelings are done by us. If all our feelings are done by us, then we have the power to let go of the pain. Throughout this process we can learn something about ourselves. To move on means to put those things behind and look forward to a new beginning.

“There is no path to happiness: happiness is the path.” ― Gautama Buddha

It is our attitude about life determines how we deal with life. We can be happy if we choose to be. Happiness is a state of mind. It is difficult to be in a state of happiness all the time. We must experience states of all emotions to get the full benefits of experiencing happiness. It is in our mind where happiness starts, not necessary something external. We can create an environment to help us in experiencing happiness in our live.  Since happiness resides in our mind; we can take it everywhere. If we can take happiness with us wherever we go, then we have an opportunity to positively affect others.
